For most Indians, the world of music festivals begins and ends with a few big names. Sunburn, SulaFest and other heavily marketed festival brands naturally take most of our attention. They have the visibility, the celebrity line-ups and the advertising budgets that make sure we know when and where the next big event is happening.
But travel has a way of making you discover what marketing doesn’t always show you.
Some of the most adventurous, jovial and visually spectacular events in India are happening in places that many of us barely know. And the Northeast is probably one of the best examples of this. I discovered that Arunachal Pradesh, with its extraordinary mountains, forests, rivers and valleys, is not just a destination for quiet escapes and adventurous road trips. It also knows how to put up a seriously exciting show. And I am talking about an event that can bring live music, outdoor adventure, camping and local culture together in one of the most visually appealing settings you could imagine.
The Orange Festival of Adventure & Music, Dambuk, is one such mind-blowing event. Imagine rolling hills beneath a sky full of shimmering stars. Orange orchards surrounding the festival ground. The cool seasonal breeze taking the edge off the excitement. Adventure activities keeping the daytime alive. And as evening falls, homegrown musical talents, established artists and international tunes turning this remote corner of Arunachal into a completely different world.
For anyone planning Dibrugarh to Pasighat long drive, extending the journey towards the Orange Festival can turn a short Arunachal escape into a completely different kind of vacation. You get the Siang, the mountains, the orange orchards, adventure, camping, music and a destination that still feels wonderfully away from the usual tourist circuit.
So, before I take you into everything you need to know about the Orange Festival of Adventure & Music, the adventure activities, music, food, camping, travel, what to carry and all the little things you should know before you go, take a quick peek at the highlights below.

Best time of the day to travel:

Accommodations or hotels: Dambuk is a village with limited accomodations available, especially at the time of fest. The good news is the festival is prepared for it. Prices of camps may differ based on size and offerings. Another option for travelers on a long drive to Pasighat is to travel from your Pasighat stay directly to the Fest and come back after the show. You can also check some homestays in Dambuk that I found decent.

What is the Orange Festival of Adventure & Music?
OFAM, is a celebration built around three things that Dambuk (Arunachal Pradesh) has in abundance, nature, adventure and music. Against the extraordinary orange backdrop, thrilling adventures unfold alongside the romance, energy and excitement of live pop music, creating an experience that is difficult to replicate elsewhere.
This is not merely a concert you attend in a city; it is a gathering of kindred spirits brought together by a shared love for nature, music, culture, and meaningful experiences. It is a grand confluence of people exchanging stories and perspectives, embracing a different way of life, and discovering the quiet charm, simplicity, and serenity that define the Northeast. And amidst it all, there is no shortage of fun, adventure, and the sheer joy of being together.
Tip: While here, you must also explore mandarin orange orchards, rural landscapes, paddy fields and the surrounding mountains. You can easily find a great road trip experience through my post on Pasighat and Dambuk here.

What to Expect Throughout the Day at OFAM?
Daytime is excellent to feel the essence of the Orange Fest. People from the entire nation and outside India engage into conversations, explore the natural ambience, share smiles with the local shopkeepers and service providers to learn about their lives, their contributions to this fest and the local articles they are selling. You start getting ready for the festival, adorn yourself with a bunch of festoons, tattoos, glitters, LED shutter shades, wrist bands and more.
Daytime activities grip your senses. Each year brings in new additions, but most of the below are customary:
- White-water rafting
- Paragliding
- Zip lining
- Hot-air balloon experiences
- Off-roading on ATVs and other outdoor adventures
Like every corner in India, the place gets lined up with scrumptious food carts. Sweet, spicy, tangy, flavors that melt in your mouth like nowhere else in the world. Both vegetarian and no-vegetarian food is available. Music and fun games follow throughout the day.
As dusk descends, live performances unfold beneath dazzling lights, transforming the grounds into a vibrant spectacle. This festival is not a single-genre music event, rather a mix of local, national and international talent, spanning different genres from indie and folk to electronic music. The surroundings reverberate with sounds so powerful, they seize your senses and awaken a different kind of ecstasy.

What to Carry to the Orange Festival?
You must carry an ID and few passport sized photographs with the ticket before you travel. The place is crowded and security is strict; registration at the venue is required for non-Arunachal citizens. Other than that, here’s a checklist of items you may carry for a pleasant experience:
- Warm clothes, especially for the evening
- Camera
- Your own blankets and pillows are allowed, if you prefer them
- Metal framed backpacks are allowed
- Sunglasses for the day
- Power Banks (important for a seamless uninterrupted day)
- Keep cash as online transactions may get intermittently interrupted. Network is uncertain.
There’s also a list of items that the festival does not allow. If you travel with a lot of personal stuff like drones, tripods selfie sticks etc. they are restricted at the venue. It is a good idea to check the entire list from the official website, that I mentioned above. Outside food, beverages and alcohol is also prohibited.
How to Dress for the Orange Festival?
Boots, casuals, dresses, whatever you wear, all is good. Be comfortable, feel festive. Keep a jacket for the chills. Day is usually cool and sunny, but evenings are quite cold. With the green landscapes, orange backdrop, surrounding hills, you can click some awesome pictures. It’s a natural movie setting with hot air balloons and parachutes gliding in the bright blue sky. So, dress in your best.
Orange Festival 2025 Highlights and what’s up for 2026?
Every year the Orange Fest is getting bigger and better. Year 2025 reported 19000 people on ground for Sunidhi Chauhan’s performance. It was crowded, but well managed. The souls went crazy but felt connected. Bigger stars now shine at the fest. Sunidhi Chauhan, Benny Dayal, Raftaar, Adnan Sami, rapper Borkung Hrangkhawl, and many more homegrown artists set up the mood.
Sunidhi Chauhan has confirmed to perform again this year-2026. I will reveal all the rest as soon as the booking opens. So, bookmark this post in your browsers.
Important to know before you visit OFAM
The Orange Festival of Adventure and Music also organizes the event at locations other than Dambuk. You can catch the event live in Itanagar on 20th October 2026. Tickets and information are available on the official website.
At OFAM I felt excited, happy and relaxed. Children are welcome but may be restricted to certain activities if below 5. Overall vibe is pleasant. Drinking is allowed, so you may witness some craziness. I would suggest it is superb for adults and requires a bit of tolerance when carrying kids along. I did mention this earlier, do expect lingering smell of non-veg in the air. Tickets are available at the venue, but best is to book before you go and read all inclusions, schedule, artists, duration, activities dos and dont’s on the booking site.
Dambuk and the festival setting is beautiful. Take out time to explore it during the day. Witness the natural beauty of Arunachal Pradesh while floating in the sky. Walk around to explore the surroundings. Talk to the locals, they are sweet and charming. Eat oranges. Forget planning what to do next, just keep enjoying what catches your eye. Feel free and refreshed with the cool breeze. This festival is more of a grand open-air party rather than a defined schedule of events. Enjoy it this way and the orange festival feels a lot different than the metro city concerts.
Arunachal hosts many more such festivals, born out of a cultural event. One of them is the Ziro Festival of Music. If you are searching for the Ziro Fest, you just missed this year’s dates. This year it was live from 24–27 September 2026. This year’s four-day festival brought together more than 40 Indian and international artists, including names such as Sukhbir, Sneha Khanwalkar, Midival Punditz, Shakthisree Gopalan, Parikrama and Karan Kanchan, along with international performers from countries including Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Thailand, South Korea and Switzerland. Again, no worries, the good news is it comes back to thrill more people every year, so you can plan for Ziro Fest 2027 now.
