In this long drive for a short trip, we are talking about the World’s tallest statue, which instantly grips us with its grandeur. However, in my post, I’ll help you decode exactly when to go and how to plan your road trip from Ahmedabad to Ekta(Unity) Nagar for an experience that goes well beyond the ordinary. Ekta Nagar is thoughtfully planned like a mini city, with attractions clustered close together and seamless transfers making it easy to explore multiple experiences in one trip. In some ways, its layout brings Disneyland to mind, but with a distinctly different purpose: alongside the fun and convenience, it offers hands-on learning, insights into India’s history and engineering, and meaningful encounters with nature. Apart from being an engineering marvel, the statue is a reminder of the legendary visionaries born on Indian soil, one of whom was Sardar Patel, the Iron Man of India.
Since my posts essentially uncover exceptional, rejuvenating weekend escapes, I strongly recommend that my readers focus on when not to plan this trip. Most of the destinations here are in the open. I therefore outlined a few essential considerations to help you discover everything that shapes this experience. Explore destinations, weather conditions, ideal stay duration, accommodation, transfers and other practical details that can transform an ordinary getaway into an extraordinary one when you read on.

If the quick peek has given you a nudge and the trip seems doable, here’s how I will make you excited about it. The internet may list 20 attractions in Ekta Nagar, but here, I will share a thoughtfully curated itinerary that takes you beyond the usual tourist trail. Road trips and scenic long drives are at the heart of my travel stories, and the journey from Ahmedabad to the Statue of Unity is particularly smooth, comfortable and convenient. However, if driving isn’t your preferred way to travel, the train(Jan Shatabdi) is a recommended option to reach this iconic landmark from Ahmedabad. Free Bus transfers from the Ekta Nagar Railway Station and car parking to the tourist spots are available at quick intervals. Please Note, personal vehicles cannot be taken to the tourist destinations without special permits.

EV Charging Availability on the Ahmedabad to Statue of Unity Route (I support EVs)
Leave Ahmedabad with at least 90% battery if possible. For a vehicle with a modest real-world range, consider a charging break around Vadodara or Dabhoi. Once you reach Ekta Nagar, recharge while having a meal or during your hotel stay rather than waiting until the return journey.
Remember that air-conditioning, highway speeds, traffic and battery condition can affect your vehicle’s actual range. Always maintain enough charge to reach an alternative station if your preferred charger is unavailable.
Best time of the day to travel: Around 5:30–6:30 AM for an early arrival or 5-6 pm in the evening to reach, sleep and begin the next day. Earliest attractions at the Statue of Unity or Ekta Nagar open at 8 am.
Best time of the year to travel: I strongly recommend to only visit from November to February for a comfortable outdoor sightseeing. Even October 2026 was quite sunny and warm and the bright sunlight during the day can give you a headache.
Trivia: The Statue of Unity attractions generally remain closed on Mondays. I have mentioned about each of them under attractions below.
Tip: The destinations at Ekta Nagar, especially the Statue of Unity are very well planned to incorporate comfort. There are shades wherever possible, conveyor belts at every 10 mts, for senior citizens transfer vehicles within the campus are also available. The preparation is of international standard, however, remaining unruffled in the scorching heat is quite unachievable. So, plan during Year End or Beginning (Winter Season), stay hydrated all the time and always carry sun protection. Then you will enjoy for sure.

Accommodations or hotels: This is another important consideration, when planning for Statue of Unity. We had a bad experience booking the wrong accomodation. Follow my guidance for a decent stay and enjoyable trip. Pre-Booking a hotel is important if you are travelling on a weekend or holiday. Availability is limited and only the accomodations on the main road strip of Ekta Nagar are worth staying. You will find a lot of average standard Inns and Motels here. Few premium hotels like Ramada are available nearby.
But, there are two unconventional stay experiences featured for this location. Read on to find all of the options. My recommendation is that a decent stay at the Statue of Unity costs around Rs. 5000 to 6000. Therefore, if Inns or Motels also charge you around this cost, it is better not to book them, rather make the trip exclusive by staying in the ones I mention below:
Tent City – Luxury Amidst Nature
For travellers who want the accommodation to become part of the holiday, Statue Of Unity Tent City offers a resort-style experience with premium cottages and villas near the Narmada. Another option is Tent City Narmada, which features air-conditioned deluxe and premium tents.

Houseboats – A Different Perspective of the Narmada
This is an exclusive stay for limited visitors with a maximum capacity of 6 guests and 2 rooms. It is a beautiful, houseboat-like accomodation that offers unobstructed sunrise and sunset views by the river. It is a static houseboat like hotel.

Premium Hotels – Comfort and Convenience
If you prefer a luxurious room, a good restaurant and familiar hotel amenities after a long day outdoors, Ekta Nagar has several attractive choices. Consider:
Economical Inns and Homestays
Smaller hotels and homestays around Ekta Nagar and Garudeshwar offer practical alternatives for travellers who intend to spend most of their time exploring.
Options worth comparing include:

- Imperia by The Sky Imperial, Statue of Unity, Garudeshwar (updated prices 2027)
Attractions and activities
The destination has been thoughtfully developed into a compact tourism township, where wildlife encounters, illuminated gardens, interactive learning centres, botanical parks and recreational experiences complement the magnificent Statue of Unity. If you have 2-3 days and good weather in hand, go ahead and explore them all. For a limited time, create an exemplary itinerary of the primary attractions that I describe below:
Read on as I reveal to you the ‘Best Places to Visit in Statue of Unity, Ekta Nagar‘.👇
Statue Of Unity, The Iconic Landmark
Standing 182 metres tall, the Statue of Unity is an extraordinary engineering achievement and a tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, whose leadership was instrumental in integrating India’s princely states after independence. The 182 mtrs signify the 182 seats in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly. This is almost double the height of the Statue of Liberty, New York. Made with tons of iron, it reveres the Indian Iron Man in its true sense.
Beyond admiring its imposing structure from the outside, visitors can explore the exhibition areas and museum to understand Patel’s contribution to India’s unification. The Viewing Gallery, situated approximately 153 metres above ground level, offers expansive views of the Narmada River, Sardar Sarovar Dam and surrounding hills. This can be your first destination if you haven’t started 8 am in the morning. Keep the parks, which are many in this location, for the mornings or early evenings, followed by the statue visit.
There are other major highlights of this place that you should not miss.
- The Projection Mapping on the Statue: This is a great light and sound show of a maximum of 15 minutes and worth watching. You see 3D projection on the statue casting the life and contributions of Sardar Patel. The show begins at 7-7:30 pm when the lighting is right. There are plenty of benches within the campus to sit and watch the entire show. No extra tickets are required.
- Cruise by the Statue of Unity: Ekta Cruise sails right beside the Statue of Unity. The sails begin from morning 8 am until night, at every 1-hour gap, for a duration of 45 minutes. You get all surrounding views and Sarovar Dam views around the statue. If you want to watch the projection from the cruise, Ekta Night Cruise sails from 6:45 to 9 pm and serves dinner.

I have given the official booking link for all the attractions at the end.
Trivia: You enter the campus for a security check, which leads to a long way facilitated by transfer belts and vehicles for the elderly to reach the viewing gallery and the statue. The entire walking path is covered with shades. The viewing gallery and statue observatory is enclosed and air conditioned.
Tip: Purchasing a VIP entry for this destination is an excellent idea as the queues for a 15-20 mins observatory visit are exhausting. VIP entry also includes valley of flowers visit and all transfers through volvo buses. Keep reading to learn about all the attractions and the combined ticket options. It remains closed on Monday.
Valley of Flowers, A Colourful Riverside Landscape
The Valley of Flowers offers beautifully landscaped gardens, seasonal blooms, walking pathways and picturesque views around the Statue of Unity tourism area. Do not worry about the blooming season, as the park is designed to cater to colours throughout the year. It is excellent for photography and for a walk.

Trivia: It is next to the Statue of Unity and opens at 8 am. Morning is a good time to skip the heat.
Tip: It takes around 30 to 40 mins to take a stroll in the garden, and therefore can be your first visit in the morning at 8 am. This garden remains closed on Monday.
Almost all green parks close around 6:30 pm. Read about all the parks and include a few of your choice to visit the same day.
Jungle Safari – Statue of Unity, Wildlife and Conservation
The Sardar Patel Zoological Park, which also offers a Safari Tour, is one of the most rewarding attractions here for families and wildlife enthusiasts. Its landscaped grounds feature a variety of animal and bird species, with enclosures designed to provide opportunities for wildlife observation and education. The aviaries are particularly appealing, while the broader zoological park introduces children to animal diversity and conservation. Sloth bear, Indian wild dog, and Indian wolf, took my attention. Animals from across countries like the African giraffe, zebra, wildebeest and gemsbok look at you in amaze.
Trivia: This is mainly a zoo with easy access to animals in enclosures. E-carts are available for Safari, but are subject to availability and cannot be booked in advance.
Tip: The visit at this zoo takes 1.5-2 hours and this is definitely a morning or early evening thing. So, combine it with a park visit and then head to lunch during the peak sunny hours of the afternoon.
Maze Garden(भूलभुलैया), Find Your Way Through the Green Labyrinth
This is another awesome attraction mindfully created to keep your intellect running. It is also an interesting departure from conventional sightseeing. Instead of simply admiring the landscape, visitors must navigate through a network of green hedges, choosing pathways and finding their way out. The Maze Garden combines recreation with observation, decision-making and spatial awareness. It can be especially entertaining for families and groups. It keeps you interestingly amused and can exhaust you if you take too long discovering the way out.
Trivia: If you get lost in the maze, try to reach the viewpoint which gives you a bird’s eye view of the maze to help you figure out the exit.
Tip: This is next to the Glow Garden and may take 30-45 minutes to decipher the way. Best is to combine it with Glow Park on the second day. It is closed on Monday.
Unity Glow Garden, A Garden That Comes Alive After Sunset
As daylight fades, the Unity Glow Garden transforms into a colourful world of illuminated installations. Glowing animals, birds, flowers, swings and imaginative light displays create a fantasy world. Dance floors and swings make it interactive for kids and give excellent photography opportunities to the adults. It demands 30-45 minutes of your time and can be the last thing on your itinerary for the day.
Tip: It starts at 6:45 pm and stays open until 10 pm. Club it with the Maze garden to end your day here.
Cactus and Butterfly Garden
This park is one of a kind, blending the joy of watching fluttering butterflies with mind-blowing sights of vast cactus plantations. Some massive cacti and colourful butterflies can be seen here. This is across the river but easily accessible via bus. The bright green cactus plantations qualify for a great pic with you.
Tip: This park should also be visited in the morning or evening, it closes at 6 pm.
Children Nutrition Park, Learning Nutrition Through Play
If you are accompanied by children, add this to your list for a change from the greens to the screens! This park teaches about nutrition by combining entertainment with practical education. The most exciting element is the miniature train for kids. It takes children through themed learning experiences that introduce food groups, healthy eating habits, nutrition and the origins of everyday food. Instead of expecting children to learn through conventional displays, the park encourages discovery through themed environments and interactive activities.
Trivia: Expect screen activities and quizzes here.
Tip: The different themes are within rooms, so this can be an early evening visit. It starts from 10 am and last entry is at 6 pm.
Aarogya Van
Why I chose this one over other gardens is its amazing sculptures, which are like eye candy. It is a massive park in the shape of a human, covered all over with medicinal plants. The emphasis is on Yoga, Ayurveda and Meditation, which were born out of India’s womb and are adopted worldwide.

Tip: This garden is mostly open, less shady, and takes around 30 to 45 mins visiting. It should be a morning or evening visit. The park remains open from 8 am to 6:30 pm.
Other Parks and Gardens:
Some other parks that look alluring, but may feel like a repetition, are mentioned here. I am also adding the differentiator and weakness of each to let you decide your itinerary.
- The Dino Trail: Massive 3 dinosaurs, lined beside a small 20-30 mins trail. The good part: the dinosaurs are life-size and look attractive. The disappointment is that there is no activity here, these are just static dinos.
- Vishwa Van: Plants here are from all over the world, and a globe similar to Universal Studios, USA, is placed at the entrance for photography. Good part is diverse, unique plantations from the 7 continents can be seen here. However, it is yet another walking trail amidst the plants.
- Miyawaki Forest: A technique-based forest garden, in which plants and trees grow quickly in a short time. Good part is the place feels cool and dense with multiple plantations in an urban setup. Do not expect any activity; it is a short, informative walk around the Miyawaki Technique Forest.
- River-Rafting: Given the time, add this distinctive adventure experience to your trip. Transfers to and from the Shrestha Bharat Bhavan Parking (near the statue of unity) are available. This is age and feasibility-restricted, depending on the river waves.
- Narmada Maha Aarti: Similar to Ganga Aarti, numerous lamps lit up on the banks of the Narmada River infuse a glow around it. You can book this for a Yajman (chief patron) central role in the aarti amongst other priests.

Booking Link: All attractions have ticket counters at the site. You can combine some or take individual tickets on the spot. Most of them range from Rs. 50 to 100. However, for major attractions like the Statue, you must book in advance. Here’s the link to book online.
If you need a suggested itinerary, assuming you arrived the evening before your visit, here’s a combination of all the good and different experiences at the Statue of Unity:
Day1: Start at 8 am. After a light breakfast or tea, if required, visit the Valley of Flowers and then the Jungle Safari. Almost all attractions provide eating joints or cafes where you can eat your breakfast, or reach the nearest cafe on the road (there are many in the vicinity). Then take a lunch break and go to the Nutrition Park, Aarogya Van or parks of your choice at around 4 pm. After 1-2 parks, head towards the Statue of Unity and spend the rest of the day here. Experience the statue view from the Sarovar Dam. Eat dinner outside or at your hotel.
Day2: Again, start at 8 am for the parks of your choice or Rafting. Eat lunch and go to the maze garden at around 5 pm. Hop to the Glow Garden beside it and end your day. The next morning, head back to Ahmedabad.
I am writing about many more exciting long drives from Ahmedabad, so keep reading and bookmark the blog.
