Starting from Bangalore at 5 AM, this became our first halt on the journey. The 4-hour drive felt refreshing, and we reached the temple at the perfect time, just as the calm and serenity of the temple began to unfold. Golden statues, Tibetan architecture, chanting monks, and peaceful surroundings make it a must-visit. While its grandeur is captivating, what stayed with me was the remarkable social impact it fosters, driven by the selfless efforts of its spiritual volunteers who quietly contribute to shaping a more compassionate and mindful society.
Outside the monastery you will find a few souvenir shops with beautiful giant hand-painted folding fans. Some tea stalls with light morning snacks also line up outside the temple.
Trivia: It is the largest teaching center of the Nyingma lineage of Tibetan Buddhism in the world.

Harangi Dam

Surrounded by misty mountains and lush greenery, the place carries a calm, almost spiritual aura that instantly slows you down.
After offering prayers at the temple, we took a short but slightly steep hike up the steps leading to the hilltop viewpoint nearby. The climb is quick yet rewarding, and once you reach the top, you are greeted with breathtaking panoramic views of rolling hills, drifting clouds, and endless greenery stretching as far as the eye can see. They appeared to me like giant Golf courses, smooth and bright green.
